The Age: Cannes Win Whilst VCA Starves
Posted by savevca1 on May 22nd, 2010VCA has won at Cannes! “Deeper Than Yesterday,” directed by VCA’s Ariel Kleiman and produced by VCA’s Anna Kojevnikov has just been awarded the Kodak Discovery Award for Best Short Film.
But as The Age reports, the days of this level of success may be numbered unless the Federal and State Labor Governments start SAVING VCA which is beginning to languish under University of Melbourne mismanagement and indiscriminate cost-cutting.
READ THE AGE’S SPECIAL VCA REPORT HERE (22/05/10).
Email Julia Gillard (Fed Education) and Peter Batchelor (Vic Arts) and tell them to SAVE VCA!
UPDATE: The Sunday Age has today (23/05/10) revealed the Cannes-winning VCA producing student Anna Kojevnikov is far from happy that Uni Melb has claimed the success of Deeper Than Yesterday as their own. The Sunday Age also reveal plans are afoot at VCAM to make FTV students co-direct movies. Read the story here.
GET EMAILING PEOPLE! Force Gillard and Batchelor to care. Remember you get to vote this year on whether both of these people should stay in Government.

I emailed Julia Gillard a while back now, seems the federal government isn’t interested and they said not only was it a victorian state matter but that melb uni was a stand alone association and any issues should be taken up with them- as if that’d work, theyre the ones trying to change it all, and not for the better.
THE AGE May 22: “Amid the furore of the Switkowski report’s release last week, one important element was overlooked – the report undermines almost everything that Pretty has argued thus far.” I didn’t miss that. Should the Dean be “considering her (own) future?”
